NFL fines the Lions $200K for fighting during joint workouts with the Giants

Following several fights that broke out during joint practices with the New York Giants earlier this week, the Detroit Lions were fined $200,000 by the NFL.
In preparation for their preseason matchup with the Lions tomorrow, the Giants, who were also fined $200,000, had been hosting the team for the previous two days.
According to an NFL spokesman, “a memo sent last month reminded all NFL clubs that fighting and unprofessional conduct at joint practices would not be tolerated.”
During their first combined practice on Monday, the Lions and Giants engaged in combat more than ten times. On Tuesday, a video of a different altercation went viral on social media. It featured Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers pushing Lions defender Kerby Joseph, who then pummeled him multiple times.
We contacted the Lions to inquire about the fine, but we have not received a response.
Thursday, August 8 at 7 p.m. EST is when that preseason game is scheduled to begin.
