ESPN: After being drafted by the Raiders, NFL superstar was tricked by a fake Cowboys trade.
Things are getting out of control with this whole prank calling thing.
The latest to admit he got got is running back Ashton Jeanty, in an NFL draft environment that seems to be full with hoax calls to draftees.
The Boise State standout said in a video posted by FanSided that he was tricked by someone who claimed he had been traded to the Dallas Cowboys after being selected by the Las Vegas Raiders with the sixth overall pick last Thursday night:
“Some dude called me and was like, ‘We just traded with the Raiders, and you’re coming to the Cowboys,'” said Jeanty. “And I just hung up bro.”
He didn’t fall for it, at least.
Jeanty is the latest in a line of prospects who were allegedly prank-called this past weekend, including Shedeur Sanders, Mason Graham, Tyler Warren, and Abdul Carter. While meeting with the Cowboys during the pre-draft process, the Heisman candidate ironically stated that it would be “great” to play in Dallas.
Jokes aside, Jeanty will continue to wear his famous No. 2 jersey while playing for the Raiders in Las Vegas next season.
