ESPN: Cowboys cut ties with journeyman wide receiver following George Pickens trade.

On Wednesday, the Dallas Cowboys acquired George Pickens, giving supporters what they had been anticipating throughout the summer. The primary weakness on the Cowboys squad was thought to be another outstanding wide receiver besides CeeDee Lamb, therefore Jerry Jones wasted no time in getting one.
The Cowboys can adjust the remainder of their offseason plans if they can complete the deal at this time. In light of this, they cut a wide receiver from their roster of 90 players before to training camp.
Seth Williams, a journeyman playmaker who joined the Cowboys’ practice squad in October 2024, was cut by Dallas, according to Cowboys source Calvin Watkins. After the season, he signed a reserve/future deal with the team, but after not playing for the Cowboys, he will now be searching for a new team.
To make place for George Pickens on the 90-man roster, Seth Williams was dismissed today. Due to their exemption for foreign players, the Cowboys have 91 players on the roster.
To make room for George Pickens, the Cowboys cast off their recently signed playmaker.
Following an impressive three-year collegiate career at Auburn, Williams was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. Williams was Auburn’s top receiver, but he hasn’t been able to translate that success to the NFL yet.
Williams made one reception for 34 yards in two games (one of which he started) with the Broncos before being cut following his rookie season. He has subsequently spent time with the Jaguars, but he was never given the opportunity to play for Jacksonville in an NFL game.
The 25-year-old will probably be selected for a training camp roster somewhere else because he is still young enough and has some potential because of his athletic skills and six-foot-three build. However, his chances of making an active roster and starting an NFL career are undoubtedly dwindling.
