Aaron Judge will play the Athletics with very identical foul poles after having a home run taken away against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Aaron Judge, a slugger with the New York Yankees, is currently on a generational run. His hitting tempo is more akin to that of Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds than it is to the league’s second-best hitter. The fact that Judge was denied a home run earlier in the season is not included in this. Robbed in the sense that the umpires miscalled a home run as a foul ball, not in the sense that a player went over the wall and caught a fly ball hit.

The fact that the foul poles at Steinbrenner Field were significantly shorter than those at most Major League parks was a major factor in the incorrect decision, which occurred during a game against the Tampa Bay Rays earlier in the season.

It’s fortunate that the Yankees don’t play many games in venues that aren’t in the Major League. The Athletics, who also don’t play in a conventional MLB park, will be the Yankees’ road opponent this weekend. One Yankees blogger pointed out that the foul poles at the Athletics’ stadium, where they are now undergoing a move, are comparable in size to those at Steinbrenner Field, where Judge had his home run stolen.

Aaron Judge’s foul pole caused PTSD in Yankees fans before to the series against the Athletics.

It was unlikely that Judge would hit a ball the way he did against the Rays earlier in the season. It is nearly inconceivable that the umpires could have made a mistake given the clear evidence that the ball was fair. In light of this, Yankees fans shouldn’t be concerned that a similar scenario would occur just because the foul poles are short.

If something similar occurs, Yankees supporters may riot, so we’d best pray it doesn’t.

For Judge’s sake, he doesn’t need that home run for people to recognize how terrific he is. The slugger is still likely going to reach the 50 home run mark without even making a sweat. Even though hitting the manner he does is unheard of, he still shows up every night.

It would be beneficial for all parties if Judge could limit his long fly balls to the center of the field when facing the Athletics.
