ESPN: Titans add another super talented DE, a former Lions outstanding player star.

Today, the Titans added three defenders to their roster, making a few other roster adjustments. First, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the club has acquired Amani Oruwariye, a cornerback. Later, the organization declared that they had signed Raiders linebacker Amari Burney off waivers.
According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston, the Titans also signed defensive end Carlos Watkins. Wilson reports that the team released defensive tackle Abdullah Anderson to make room for these changes.
Oruwariye, who has played in 61 games over the previous six seasons, will provide Tennessee’s secondary some seasoned depth. Oruwariye has recovered somewhat after a brief period as a starting cornerback with the Lions. In 2024, he played in seven games (four of which he started) for the Cowboys, with three passes defended and 29 tackles.
Last season, Oruwariye made headlines for his poor handling of a blocked punt that resulted in a game-winning goal. It’s probable that the new free agency addition will be playing a similar special teams-focused role in 2025, as his special teams coach from Dallas, John Fassel, is now doing the same in Tennessee.
Watkins, a seasoned defensive lineman who recorded 12 tackles in 15 games, was also in Dallas the previous season. Watkins had greater action on defense in 2024, playing 225 plays, even though he was probably added as a ST option for Fassel. In his 87 career games, the former fourth-round selection has racked up 151 tackles and six sacks.
Burney, a former sixth-round selection who played in 24 games with the Raiders over the previous two seasons, also contributes some experience. Among these was the 2024 campaign, in which he played in a career-high 17 games and recorded 17 tackles and one sack. The Raiders released the defensive lineman yesterday.
Since graduating from Bucknell in 2018 without being selected, Anderson has moved around the NFL. He didn’t register a tackle in his four games with the major league team last season, spending the most of that season on Tennessee’s practice squad.
