ESPN: The NFL using Steelers, sends a strong message to Aaron Rodgers.
The NFL seems to be expecting Aaron Rodgers to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although the NFL planned the season as Rodgers would with the Steelers, it is probably the best option.
They provided the Steelers with two later afternoon windows, one foreign game, and four primetime games. According to the NFL, they anticipate that the Steelers will have Rodgers and be in the running for the playoffs.
The icing on the cake is scheduling the New York Jets in Week 1, but NFL schedule maker Mike North stated that they would have chosen a primetime time slot if they had been certain Rodgers would be present.
In Week 1, you may watch the Pittsburgh vs. Jets game on CBS at 1 p.m., along with seven other NFL games at the same time. We most likely would have scheduled the game during a national broadcast window if the league had known, in my opinion. At worst, Justin Fields will be playing against his former squad. It’s Aaron Rodgers playing against one of his former clubs, at best. Take a look at what we did with Aaron Rodgers’ debut in the previous two seasons, which were also Monday night games. I believe the timetable would have reflected whatever knowledge we may have had. Still, it was a nice game, North said Jonathan Jones.
There is little doubt that the NFL expects the Steelers to be postseason contenders and, with that, a possible Rodgers signing, but that is probably the right way to go about creating the schedule.
General manager Omar Khan stated that the Steelers will have four quarterbacks on their training camp roster, with the final one most likely being a veteran. Currently, the team has three quarterbacks on the roster. For that, Rodgers is the best option, and Pittsburgh is still certain he will sign.
The Steelers would probably look to someone like Kirk Cousins if Rodgers didn’t sign. In any case, like in many of their past seasons, the Steelers will be in the spotlight.
