The Las Vegas Raiders boasted a good defense even though they were among the league’s weakest teams the previous season. In particular, the defensive line was strong and persevered through several injuries to remain competitive against the league’s top offensive line units.

The Raiders relied on a solid senior presence in the interior, while youthful defensive ends dominated on the edge. But not every member of the club from the previous season was kept on board since Las Vegas has a new leadership.

Several important defensive line guys had to go this offseason as younger and more talented players joined the Silver and Black.

John Jenkins, a 12-year NFL veteran, was one of those players who, although serving with the Raiders for two years, did not sign a contract during free agency. Jenkins signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced Friday night.

Jenkins was a clear choice for the Ravens since they needed to strengthen their defensive line’s depth and adaptability in order to overcome the Chiefs and Bills. He may not have much left in him at the age of almost 36, but he can still contribute significantly as they go for the Super Bowl this year.

Jenkins participated in and started all 34 games during his two years with the Raiders. He recorded 2.0 sacks, six passes defended, a defensive score, and 107 tackles, including seven for a loss. This offseason, Las Vegas unexpectedly decided to let him go, but fortunately, he will get another chance with a formidable squad.
