CBS Sports: The Pittsburgh Steelers heavily linked to Ex $50M tight end.

This offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been active.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been busy this summer, especially offensively, as they shipped off troublesome receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys and acquired former Seattle Seahawks wide out DK Metcalf.
However, while they continue to play the long game with Aaron Rodgers, they have yet to acquire a quarterback.
Despite this, general manager Omar Khan is still searching for a better opportunity elsewhere. Insider Adam Schefter has connected Khan to Miami Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith.
“The Dolphins have had trade discussions with the Pittsburgh Steelers about their lone Pro-Bowl selection last season, tight end Jonnu Smith, per league sources,” Schefter posted to Twitter. “Smith indicated interest in renegotiating his contract, which calls for him to get $4.8 million this season, which prompted those discussions. Miami has looked for a trading partner while Smith is looking for a new deal.
“Smith broke the team’s tight end catch record last season, hauling in both yards and touchdowns. According to insiders, Smith would want to remain in Miami on a revised contract.
Smith and the Steelers have a connection because the former FIU tight end was tutored by offensive coordinator Arthur Smith while he was with the Tennessee Titans.
Smith, who has 307 catches for 3,307 yards and 28 touchdowns, will start his seventh season in the NFL. He tied his career-high eight touchdowns and recorded career highs of 88 receptions and 884 yards last season. He was selected to his first Pro Bowl as well.
