Breaking news: Detroit Lions draft pick star proposes after being selected.

Ahmed Hassanei will remember April 26, 2025, as a memorable day for a number of reasons.
First, Hassanei officially entered the National Football League ranks when the Detroit Lions made him choice No. 196 in the 2025 draft, picking the defensive end in the sixth round Saturday.
But the remarkable event didn’t finish after Hassanei got off the phone with the Lions — because he then proceeded to go down onto one knee and proposed to his fiancée.
Lions supporters are also likely to remember Hassanei’s draft-day call with Detroit coach Dan Campbell.
The former Boise State Broncos pass rusher made headlines for his fervent pledge to his new coach: “I’ll die for you coach,” Hassanei said. “I will die on that field for you. I promise I would.” The video of Hassanei’s call with Campbell has received over 350,000 views on X. Hassanei is now the first Egyptian to be selected in the NFL.
