Breaking news: Former Browns QB named biggest bust in franchise history.

It is hoped that the four prospective starters in the Cleveland Browns’ current stable would totally wash away the bitter taste that Deshaun Watson’s tragic tenure left in the fan base’s mouth. The team has a lengthy and illustrious history at quarterback that is mainly negative.

Nevertheless, it’s reasonable for some supporters to still be traumatized by all the busts from previous years, even with the thrill of having two rookies in the building in Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

After an incredible career at Texas A&M that included a Heisman Trophy victory, Manziel was selected with the 22nd overall choice in the 2014 NFL Draft, but there were many concerns about his dedication, work ethic, and partying tendencies.

Since he is still just 32 years old and could have easily been this team’s franchise quarterback if things had gone differently, it is reasonable to wonder what could have been. He finished just 2-6 in his eight career starts over two years before being permanently kicked out of the league.

Cleveland has already gone through several young quarterbacks since Manziel, including Baker Mayfield, the former No. 1 overall selection that the Browns traded after fully committing to Watson. It seems like a long time ago.

It is to be hoped that Gabriel and Sanders be somewhat more successful than Manziel was for this organization.
