Up north, a former Steeler is returning to football.

Jaylen Samuels, a former running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is returning to football, this time in Canada. Samuels has been signed by the Ottawa Redblacks, according to 3DownNation.

Samuels was on the Steelers roster from 2018-20 as a rotational running back. He recorded 256 yards on the run in 2018, his finest season as a rookie. Although he just had nine carries in 2020, he was a smaller component of the offense after scoring his first touchdown in 2019.

The Steelers picked Samuels in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. During his career with Pittsburgh, he mostly functioned as the team’s third-down back, backing up James Conner, Benny Snell Jr., and Anthony McFarland. In 2021, he played his final game as a Houston Texans player. Samuels has 468 yards and one score in four NFL seasons while playing for Houston and Pittsburgh. He amassed 1,855 yards and 19 touchdowns in his four years at North Carolina State.
