Returning to the New York Yankees is Carlos Carrasco.

Prior to the team’s series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the 38-year-old right-hander had his contract picked from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

From March 29 to May 4, Carrasco made two relief appearances and six starts for the Yankees while their rotation was decimated by injury. He had a 5.91 ERA and went 2-2 before being sent.

Carrasco passed waivers, however, and accepted an outright assignment to the minors, remaining in New York’s system.

Yankees add Carlos Carrasco for Dodgers series finale

Carrasco, however, remained in the New York system after clearing waivers and accepting an outright assignment to the minors.

Following their 18-2 loss on Saturday, the Yankees needed pitching assistance. In the rout, they employed six of their eight relievers, including Yerry De Los Santos and Brent Headrick, who were sidelined on Sunday for the second consecutive day. Pablo Reyes, a position player, was also deployed in the eighth inning.

Carrasco was added to the active roster by optioning De Los Santos to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
