CBS Sport: Packers close in to sign Titans mega star in a blockbuster deal.

Ryan Tannehill is a free agent quarterback available for $118 million; the Green Bay Packers or Baltimore Ravens may sign him during the regular season. The veteran is reportedly still searching for opportunities in the NFL because he hasn’t been able to secure employment during the offseason.

He is still patient, albeit, as per a source, the Packers are signing Tannehill in lieu of a veteran since Jordan Love will be out for a few weeks. The Packers would need to sign someone like Tannehill because they will need to make adjustments with Malik Willis, who was recently acquired via trade as a backup quarterback.

It appears that Willis’ arrival in Green Bay came at the perfect time, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise if the Packers look into other options. Teams are constantly searching for depth, so Tannehill has access to other rosters to consider.

Tannehill acknowledged that he has received calls from other teams, but anything would have to fall into place for him to return, even if it was just as a backup. The previous Comeback Player of the Year is reportedly still in shape and will be prepared for the next chance as the season goes on.

One club is already searching for a backup quarterback as the first week of play gets underway, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise if other teams begin to inquire as well. With 34,881 yards, 216 touchdowns, and 115 interceptions, Tannehill’s record is 81-70.

If a club wants to have a chance in the postseason and its great quarterback is sidelined for the season, they should definitely keep an eye on him. Even though Tyler Huntley was able to return, the Ravens might still need some depth behind Lamar Jackson.

Tannehill has the advantage of experience since Huntley might not be ready right away, even though Baltimore might feel at ease.
