Yankees slugger Aaron Judge gave J.C. Escarra a live ice bath during his post-game interview after Escarra’s walk-off against the Padres.
In a game that exhibited resilience and grit, the New York Yankees achieved a dramatic walk-off triumph over the San Diego Padres at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night, finished off with a moment J.C. Escarra won’t soon forget. After delivering the game-winning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning, Escarra was welcomed with a chilly shower courtesy of club captain Aaron Judge, drenching him mid-interview with MLB Network’s John Morosi.
After an exciting ninth and tenth innings, Escarra had his moment of triumph. The Yankees used classic small ball in the bottom of the inning after Devin Williams struck out Xander Bogaerts on a long count to escape a bases-loaded jam in the top half. Escarra, pinch hitting for Oswald Peraza, launched a long fly to left that allowed Jasson Domínguez to tag and score, sealing a 4-3 victory after Oswaldo Cabrera opened with a flawless bunt.
The celebration broke out just as the man of the hour started telling Morosi about his clutch moment.
Judge and his colleagues showered Escarra with ice water live on TV in a social media video that went viral, providing a memorable start to the Bronx’s walk-off festivities.
