Cowboys News: Dallas Lands 6-Foot-3 Playmaker

Given the team’s incredibly dismal 2024 season, the Dallas Cowboys’ problems with wide receiver depth are well-documented and have been a hot topic of discussion.

CeeDee Lamb is undoubtedly a celebrity and Dak Prescott’s ideal partner. At best, though, the depth chart has been disappointing. By acquiring former Pittsburgh Steelers star George Pickens, Dallas appeared to have found a solution to that issue, but there are legitimate concerns about how that trade could ultimately play out.

One recent player who was unable to make it has signed a new contract that may mark the end of his NFL career, one of the numerous retreads the Cowboys have attempted to salvage.

Seth Williams, a former wide receiver for the Cowboys, signs with the UFL to revive his football career.
Former Cowboys wide receiver Seth Williams inked a contract with the DC Defenders, according to a formal social media announcement from the UFL’s communications department.

Williams remained a member of Dallas’ practice squad until March, even though he hadn’t played in an NFL game since 2021 with the Denver Broncos. After being fired, he is currently attempting to restart his waning career in a different league. Unfortunately for him, he never won the trust of the coaching staff that’d retain him on a 53-man roster.

Before this fresh opportunity, Williams, who was originally selected by the Broncos in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, bounced around several practice squads. He is only 25 years old, therefore he may have a bright future in a setting that better suits his skill set. Although he have potential, it might not be at the caliber that NFL organizations are seeking.

There isn’t much love lost on the Cowboys’ end. Pickens fulfills the goal of finding Lamb a Robin who is appropriate for his Batman. In any case, if all goes according to plan, Williams might emerge as one of the UFL’s more gifted receivers.

Dallas and Defenders supporters are pleased with this deal, but we’ll see.
