ESPN : DeMeco Ryans Sends a Clear Message to the Texans.
Along with team owner Cal McNair and other organizational leaders, Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans attended the franchise’s yearly golf charity event. Tank Dell, an injured wide receiver, was one of the subjects media questioned the head coach about.
It is anticipated that Dell will miss the whole 2025 season after suffering numerous ruptured ligaments in his knee in Week 16 of the 2024 campaign.
However, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, Dell has a remote possibility of making a comeback in 2025.
On May 5, Wilson stated, “He tore his ACL, MCL, and LCL, so there’s a very good chance he’ll miss the entire season.” He turned out to have no meniscus injury, which is one of the reasons he has this remote possibility of playing in 2025.
“He has advanced significantly. I’ve been informed that Tank’s activity is excellent and that folks are excited about what they’re witnessing from his rehabilitation.
“I speak with Tank frequently. Tank is doing quite well. He is doing really well in his rehabilitation process, is in a good mood, and is headed toward recovery. He’s in a great place. I’m very forward to watch how it develops further,” Ryans said to reporters on May 5.
I want him to keep improving and to approach every day of his rehabilitation the way he has been, with a positive outlook. Additionally, he will return when Tank is ready to do so. There’s no need to hurry. We don’t have a deadline or require him to return by this certain day. When Tank is ready to be Tank, we need Tank back, and I’m okay with that.
On May 5, Wilson wrote on X that Dell was making “steady and impressive progress” during his rehabilitation.
He added that there are still a lot of possible scenarios for the Dell and the Texans.
Naturally, they don’t want to put any pressure on him to return right away. They don’t want any setbacks, and if he does anything at all, if he’s even being considered, then it would be a fantastic return and an incredible feat if he could do something in December or January. “Because 2026 is the most likely date,” Wilson stated.
They just will never rule him out. Will he start camp on the list of people who are physically incapable of performing? Indeed. Will he be placed on injured reserve to begin the season? Indeed. All of these things will occur, and if they so want, they might designate him for repatriation. Alternatively, they may decide by September that it is illogical. They might just state that he will spend the entire year on injured reserve.
