ESPN:The Texans sign Steelers sensational 4-time Pro Bowl running back in a blockbuster deal.

A football standout from UNLV is on his way to the Lone standout State.
Jackson Woodard, a linebacker, was claimed off waivers by the Houston Texans on Wednesday.
Woodard signed as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks following the NFL Draft.
Seattle dismissed him on Tuesday following their rookie minicamp this past weekend.
Woodard, the current Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, was the first player from UNLV to be considered for the Academic Heisman, also known as the NFF James Campbell Trophy.
He finished the 2024 season with 3.5 sacks, four interceptions, and 135 total tackles, 17 of which were for a loss.
Joe Mixon and the Texans’ four-time Pro Bowl running back may make for a nightmarish backfield.
Yes, this would be frightful.
Even though the Houston Texans are far enough away from the 2025 NFL Draft, there is still a lot of conjecture, particularly around the back field.
The Texans still needed to add depth behind Joe Mixon, who had an incredible first season in Houston.
Woody Marks was drafted in order to accomplish this, but why stop there? According to one NFL observer, there is a great fit out there who is only awaiting the Texans’ approval.
Nick Chubb to the Texans would be nightmare fuel for opposing defenses
The Texans were ranked first by NFL Media’s Jeffri Chadiha in a recent essay on some of the best fits for the remaining free agents, including Nick Chubb.
“The Texans are a possibility only because they aren’t that strong at running back after Joe Mixon, as backup Dameon Pierce has disappointed since rushing for 939 yards as a rookie three years ago,” Chadiha stated.
“The Texans want to run the ball more consistently with new offensive coordinator Nick Caley, and it couldn’t hurt to have another proven veteran back on the roster.”
No, Chadiha is correct. Opposing defenses would struggle if a veteran like Chubb were added to a back field that already had Mixon, particularly if both players continue to be healthy. Naturally, Chubb is recovering from a serious knee injury sustained the previous year. However, it appears from his most recent training videos that he is back and stronger than before.
Mixon and Chubb are both skilled receivers who thrive at making moves to get yardage after the catch.
The best part of about this concept is the fact that Chubb and Mixon used to be AFC North rivals, with Chubb playing in Cleveland and Mixon in Cincinnati. The two of them now have the chance to band together and create a two-man wrecking team in Houston.
