ESPN: Lions Coach explains the reasons he nearly left Detroit for.

This demonstrates how well-liked the Lions are in the NFL.
Having won 15 of their 17 games, the Detroit Lions are coming off of their finest regular season performance in team history. They easily surpassed the previous mark of 12 victories.
Detroit’s two-headed monster at running back was one of the factors that contributed to its incredible success in the previous campaign. During the 2024 season, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery combined for 2,187 yards on the ground and 28 running touchdowns, demonstrating that they were the best in the NFL.
Hank Fraley, the team’s offensive line coach and run game coordinator, was given the chance to interview for the offensive coordinator position with the Seattle Seahawks as a result of their domination on the field. Although Fraley was grateful for the chance to interview for such a sought-after position in the league, he soon came to the conclusion that the Motor City, not Seattle, was where he truly belonged.
Hank Fraley, the run-game coordinator and offensive line coach for the Lions, said he had a nice day interviewing for the position of offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, but he claimed he wanted to stay in Detroit.
During his ten years in the NFL, Fraley played center for the Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, and St. Louis Rams. He started 123 of his 142 games. He is the kind of player-turned-coach who will instantly win the respect of every player on the offensive end of the ball when you mix that degree of expertise with the perseverance that allowed him to have a ten-year career as an undrafted free agent.
Fraley should be a more successful position coach in 2025 after this experience applying for an offensive coordinator post. Now he has been confronted with the kinds of questions and choices that any effective offensive coordinator would have to make, even though they are purely hypothetical.
Fraley should have additional chances to advance in the league’s coaching hierarchy if the Lions maintain their level of dominance on the field, as they did the previous campaign. Thankfully, his heart is in Detroit, at least for the time being, and the Lions are really happy about that.
