ESPN: Mike Tomlin supports the Steelers general manager in destroying the team.

This week, the Cowboys acquired George Pickens from the Steelers.
Earlier this week, the Pittsburgh Steelers made the decision to trade wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. The Steelers give up another gifted and effective receiver in Pickens, who had not asked for a trade, even though they got D.K. Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks earlier this summer.
Omar Khan, the general manager of the Steelers, stated Friday that the deal came together fast after the Cowboys contacted him earlier this week. Khan went on to say that they believed the move “made sense” for everyone after speaking with Pickens’s agent.
“We also had some conversations with George’s agent, Dave (Mulugheta), who I have a good relationship with,” Khan stated. “We spoke about where George has been, where they are, and where things may yet go. And everyone benefited from this exchange. We simply believed that it was appropriate for both parties to start again.”
When questioned about the deal on Saturday, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin referred to Khan’s justification from the day before. Tomlin did not expressly respond to the claim that he was responsible for the team’s decision to trade Pickens earlier this week.
Tomlin told reporters, “I’m not going to add any color to it other than what Omar told you guys yesterday.” “We believed it was appropriate and ideal for everyone. Actually, all I’m thinking about is the rookies’ opportunity this weekend.
There were undoubtedly some tense times between Pickens and the Steelers before to the trade, even if neither Khan nor Tomlin left the justification for the move as providing both parties with a new beginning. Last season, Pickens had a number of run-ins with fellow defensive backs and received two unsportsmanlike penalty penalties during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. After that match, Tomlin demanded that Pickens “grow up.”
After being traded to the Cowboys, Pickens stated that he “feels great” and is eager to work alongside wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. They will gain a wonderful complementing receiver for Lamb and the offense if Pickens is successful in Dallas.
