ESPN: Steelers now desperately counting on Little Receiver amid two major moves.
Roman Wilson, a former third-round pick, is a key player for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ back and forth with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been one of the offseason’s most prominent topics. Despite Rodgers’ apparent lack of commitment, it is obvious that the Steelers want him to be their signal-caller.
The team is still in communication, according to a recent X report by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, but nothing is confirmed at this time.
“The #Steelers are still in communication with Aaron Rodgers and hope he will join the team. However, no concrete update as of yet. Flower made a post.

In addition, the Steelers made a huge post-draft move by giving up wide receiver George Pickens in exchange for draft compensation. Since joining the league as a second-round choice in 2022, Pickens has been a key component of Mike Tomlin’s offense.
Pickens played in 48 games (40 starts) throughout his three-year Steelers career, recording 2,841 yards and 21 touchdowns. According to Fowler, the Steelers feel Roman Wilson is already on the roster and that they will have to find that output elsewhere.
“The team is depending on Roman Wilson’s second-year leap. “Compared to his injury-plagued rookie season, he looks like a different player this offseason,” Fowler said in the same piece.
After battling hamstring and ankle problems throughout his first season, Wilson only appeared in one game and took five snaps. Wilson played four years at Michigan before being selected in the third round by the Steelers in 2024. He was the team’s top receiver in the 2023 National Championship.
Wilson caught 48 passes for 789 yards and 12 touchdowns during his senior year. His 12 touchdowns were second in the Big Ten, only surpassed by Arizona Cardinal Marvin Harrison, a former Ohio State Buckeye. In terms of touchdowns, Wilson ranked seventh in the country.
Despite his stature, Wilson was commended for his route-running skills prior to the draft. Wilson was scouted by Bleacher Report, which began with the statement, “Every WR class has a top-50 talent who “simply gets open.” This year, it’s Roman Wilson.
Wilson isn’t the perfect stature for an NFL receiver at 5’10½” and 186 pounds, but he doesn’t need it to succeed. Working from the slot and when maintained off the line of scrimmage as a Z, Wilson is incredibly dependable.
Wilson is one of the 2024 NFL draft class’s top route runners. He instantly puts defensive backs on their heels with his lightning-fast pace, and he works from there.
