ESPN: The Indianapolis Colts shaded Miami Dolphins wide receiver for his arrest.
The Indianapolis Colts shaded Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill in a since-deleted schedule announcement video.
The video revealed the Colts’ and the opponents they would play each week. It has since been removed from the Colts’ social media platforms, but social media users have downloaded and reposted it.
The film featured an animated short with artwork reminiscent of Minecraft. The Colts announced that they would play the Miami Dolphins in Week 1. The video showed a dolphin swimming with the name “Hill,” wearing a #10 jersey, before the Coast Guard abruptly halted and appeared to detain it.
The wide receiver is also sporting the same jersey #10 that the dolphin is wearing in the video, as if the name “Hill” wasn’t enough to identify Tyreek.
Following Hill’s involvement in a traffic violation incident last year that resulted in his arrest, fans quickly concluded that this was a slight. This reference did not sit well with fans, and the post received a range of responses.
The Colts X account tweeted a fresh set of pictures as their schedule announcement after removing the video. This time, it shows their franchise mascot in comic book style, thrashing the logos or mascots of the teams they play every week.
The Colts’ mascot was seen in the artwork delivering a dolphin a backhand.
What Was the Reason Behind Tyreek Hill’s Arrest?
Before the Miami Dolphins’ 2024 season opener, Tyreek Hill was temporarily arrested by Miami-Dade police for a traffic infraction. Bodycam footage subsequently showed Hill being detained and laid face down on the pavement outside Hard Rock Stadium after officers pulled him over for speeding, reckless driving, and failing to wear a seatbelt.
Because of a “oversight,” the lawsuit was ultimately dropped.
Detective Luis Sierra, the department spokesperson, said in a statement, “The Miami-Dade Police Department is aware that a docket of citations issued to multiple individuals, including the non-criminal citations issued to Mr. Tyreek Hill, have been dismissed because the officer did not attend the hearing.”
“A citation rejected for this reason does not mean that it was without merit. An internal investigation of the officer’s absence from court has shown that he made a mistake. Administrative action will be taken in this case.
“If I wasn’t Tyreek Hill, Lord knows, I probably would have been, like, worst-case scenario, I would have been shot or would have been locked up and put behind bars, you know, for a simple speeding ticket,” Hill told the media in a statement after being fired. And it’s absurd that cops would go to that extent, you know.
