ESPN: The Mets Send the Yankees a Bold Two-Word Message About Juan Soto

When the New York Mets traveled across town with a former Bronx Bombers great, they had a daring message for the New York Yankees.
The Subway Series between the Mets and Yankees began on Friday. It was also the first time that star Juan Soto had returned to the Bronx since leaving the Yankees in free agency last winter. After helping the Yankees win the World Series the previous season, many insiders thought Soto would sign a new contract with the organization. However, he bolted for Queens and a $765 million deal with the Mets.
The Mets had a message for the Yankees when the division-leading clubs squared up on Friday.
Mets Announce Juan Soto’s Arrival
The Mets posted a picture of Soto warming up in the outfield at Yankee Stadium just before Friday’s game began. Additionally, the squad posted a brief caption that slightly irritated its crosstown opponent.
The Mets wrote, “Soto is here.”
In the opening game of the three-game set, the Mets’ optimism didn’t do them much good on the diamond. The Yankees won 6-2 after taking advantage of numerous errors made by the Mets to throw the game up in a third inning that saw four runs scored.
After the game, Soto stated that he anticipated the audience to be fervent, despite the Yankees fans’ constant jeering.
According to ESPN, Soto stated, “I was prepared for it.” “They are ardent supporters who are a little offended, but they will give their team their all because that is how they feel.”
Throughout the game, some spectators yelled at Soto and carried banners mocking him. Before his first at-bat of the game, Soto gave the audience a mimic tip of the hat, showing that he was amused by the jeering.
“I just did it, even though we were just making jokes in the dugout about it,” Soto remarked. “The guys adored it.”
I have no regrets, Juan Soto.
The slugger stated that he is pleased with his choice to join the Mets, despite the fact that many Yankees supporters still have grudges against him for choosing the other New York team in free agency.
It was a difficult choice. Soto told Jon Heyman of the New York Post, “We couldn’t finish even though (the Yankees) were number one.” However, everything works for a reason in the end. I have faith in our work. We’ll see what transpires.
“I’m glad to play for a World Series contender,” Soto continued. For the most of the first six weeks of the MLB season, the Mets have been in the lead in the NL East.
“No, no. I’m glad I made the choice I did,” Soto remarked. “You glance around. Our crew is incredible. Additionally, it will be a strong squad for a very long time.
Soto has bounced back after a rather difficult start to the season, hitting eight home runs with an OPS of.845 thus far.
