Injury Report: Sadly two of Jets key players were ruled out during practice due to injury.
Mike Williams was officially activated off the active/PUP list by the NY Jets on Wednesday, which was very significant and welcomed news for the wide receiver room.
Williams was supposed to be activated at some time before to the regular season, but he is still recuperating from an ACL tear he sustained in September of last year. Williams’ early activation confirms the Jets’ claim that he was finishing his rehabilitation earlier than expected.
The Jets have contrasted Williams’ rehabilitation schedule to that of Breece Hall, who wasn’t activated until August 15 of last year. Williams will now start the process of getting adjusted before Week 1 even comes, having returned a full week ahead of Hall.
Although it’s doubtful that Williams will fully recuperate to practice or play in a live preseason game just yet, the wide receiver group of the Jets is now one step closer to being fit for the regular season. This is significant news.
Due to injuries, two Jets players left Tuesday’s practice early; however, it is yet unknown how serious any of these injuries are. During Tuesday’s practice, safety Ashtyn Davis and offensive lineman Chris Glaser were both seen leaving the field with trainers.
In a virtual interview with reporters on Wednesday, Jets head coach Robert Saleh disclosed that Davis had sustained a rib injury. Glaser’s injury is still unknown. To ascertain the severity, both players are undergoing additional tests.
This season, Davis is anticipated to be a key member of the special team and the Jets’ third safety. If Davis is forced to miss any time due to injury, veteran Isaiah Oliver would be the next in line.
Glaser is vying for a spot on the roster as one of the offensive line backups for the Jets. In an attempt to beat out guys like Xavier Newman and Jake Hanson for a roster spot, he has been practicing at both guard and center.
