Tragic Loss: Led Zeppelin pays tribute to a Liverpool hero who passed away at the age of 28.

“Thank you for your magic, Diogo”
Robert Plant, a member of Led Zeppelin, has paid respect to Diogo Jota, a Liverpool hero who passed away at the age of 28.
Early on Thursday, July 3, the Portuguese international football player lost his life in an automobile accident in northern Spain. Andre Silva, his 25-year-old brother who played football professionally in Portugal, was also slain.
Jota, who played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, the team Plant is vice president of, was a member of Liverpool’s 2024–25 Premier League winning team.
On Thursday, Plant posted on X: “What a horrible loss. fading of a brilliant, dazzling light. Diogo, thank you for your magic.
When Wolves were promoted from the EFL Championship in the 2017–18 season, Jota was on loan there. He remained there for the next two seasons until joining Liverpool in 2020 for £41 million.
Having been up in the Black Country, Plant has always been a fan of the West Midlands club. He frequently goes to home games at Molineux and was appointed the club’s vice president in 2009.
Jota won the Premier League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup twice when he was a member of Liverpool. In addition, he has 49 caps for Portugal and was the recipient of the UEFA National League title only last month.
Jota was supposed to take the boat back to England for preseason training, and it is thought that the tragedy happened as he was traveling from Portugal to Santander in northern Spain. His automobile went off the road and caught fire following a suspected ruptured tire when he was passing another vehicle, and he had been told not to fly since he had undergone minor surgery in the previous weeks.
Cristiano Ronaldo, a teammate from Portugal, is among others who have paid respect to Jota, writing: “It doesn’t make sense.” You recently got married, and we were on the same national team. You will always be with them, I’m sure of it. Diogo e Andre, rest in peace. You will be missed.
“Diogo was not only a fantastic player, but also a great friend, a loving and caring husband, and a father,” said former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who expressed his heartbreak at the news. You will be sorely missed.
Jota is survived by his three small children and married Rute Cardoso eleven days ago.
