After being transferred to New Orleans by the former owner of the Hornets in 2021, Devonte’ Graham of the San Antonio Spurs made a joke about not thinking of Michael Jordan as the greatest player in basketball history.

After Graham joined the Pelicans, he switched allegiance to LeBron James, as part of a three-team transaction with the Memphis Grizzlies including the franchise that drafted him.

Graham made this comment to HoopsHype; in recent days, The Athletic also asked current NBA players who they thought was the greatest of all time.

Jordan maintained his position as the top GOAT, receiving 45.9 percent of the vote among the 142 players questioned by The Athletic. LeBron trailed slightly, at 42.1 percent; the gap was less than four percentage points.

When the same poll was done the previous year, Jordan won by a whopping 25.3% of the vote. Jordan has a commanding advantage of 61.1 percentage points in 2019.

“I was a player for Michael Jordan, the greatest of all time.” He gave me money. He was unquestionably the GOAT when I played there. “It became LeBron once I got traded,” Graham said to HoopsHype.

The only other athlete to receive more than one percent of the vote was the late Kobe Bryant, who came in third place with 9.8 percent. According to The Athletic, Paul Pierce, Magic Johnson, and Stephen Curry were tied for fourth place with 0.8 percent of the vote apiece.

According to an NBA players’ poll on HoopsHype, guard Devonte’ Graham of the San Antonio Spurs gave an intriguing explanation for going from Michael Jordan to LeBron in the ongoing discussion about who the best player in NBA history is.

Regarding his choice for the NBA GOAT, Graham said, NBA player Devonte Graham of the Spurs said to HoopsHype, “I played for the GOAT, Michael Jordan.” “He gave me money. He was unquestionably the GOAT when I played there. After I was traded, LeBron was involved.

Naturally, Graham made his NBA debut with the Charlotte Hornets, the team Michael Jordan owned. After three seasons of service with the Hornets, he was moved to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2021. Graham was moved once more to the San Antonio Spurs in the previous season.

In HoopsHype’s survey, Jordan leads James overall by 49 percent to 37 percent. Third place goes to Kobe Bryant, who is at 9%. Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Larry Bird, Dwyane Wade, and Bill Russell are all at 1%.

Spencer Dinwiddie, a player for the Lakers, voted for LeBron.

Dinwiddie told HoopsHype, “LeBron because I judge it on who I’d draft No. 1 in an all-time draft.” “He has essentially been attending the Conference Finals for more than 20 years. LeBron is, in my opinion, a more global symbol in many fields, including business. Because Jordan was so different from what we had seen, I believe he is a bigger hero in a way. Before LeBron entered, we had already seen dominant guards and wings.

KJ Martin, meanwhile, argued that Michael Jordan was the greatest player the NBA has ever seen.

“I think it’s important to consider both the effects you have off the court and what you do while playing basketball. Jordan brand footwear is well-known. They will, in my opinion, continue to sell. Even though he is already well-known throughout the world, I can’t imagine how things would be different if social media had existed when he was performing live. It’s difficult to win MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season, average 30 for your career, and have six rings. You also have to never lose in the Finals.
