Tank Dell injury news: Texans wide receiver sustained 'minor' wound as bystander in Florida shooting | Sporting News

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2, Tank Dell, a third-round rookie sensation for the Texans, was shot and killed in a public mass shooting that occurred at a nightclub in Sanford, Florida on Saturday. The 24-year-old is said to have already left the hospital and is anticipated to fully recover from his wounds.

This past weekend, Dell—a native of Daytona Beach—visited his mother in his hometown. Dell got caught in the crossfire after the shooting at Cabana Live, however it appears that Dell was not involved in the incident. In the incident, ten civilians—including Dell—suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and following the shooting, Florida police detained a 16-year-old suspect.

Dell was already on the road to recovery from injuries sustained in football. Due to a fractured fibula, the rookie sensation missed the Texans’ last seven games, including two postseason games. After having the fibula repaired surgically, he has made progress in his recuperation.

Dell recently participated in the off-season fitness program offered by Houston. He even took part in extra training sessions with NFL trainer Justin Allen and private coach Delfonte Diamond, in addition to throwing drills with fellow rookie quarterback and outstanding performer C.J. Stroud.

Prior to their reopening in May, Dell had informed the media that he would be prepared to take part in team activities. Whether or not the incident this past weekend will change that schedule is unknown, but Dell is anticipated to fully heal and his injuries shouldn’t have any long-term effects.

After paying in full for Deshaun Watson’s trade, what did the Texans do with the Browns’ picks?

The Browns’ three-year streak without a first-round choice came to an end in the 2024 NFL Draft as a result of the Deshaun Watson trade in 2022.

The Browns have finally trimmed the branches they traded for Deshaun Watson.

Deshaun Watson's Career With The Cleveland Browns Won't Really Start Until Next Season

In order to secure Watson’s services back in March of 2022, Cleveland sent its first-round picks in 2022, 2023, and 2024 along with a third-round pick in 2023 and a fourth-round pick in 2022 and 2024. A 2024 sixth-round pick was also acquired by the Browns in the deal; they had previously traded for Jerry Jeudy from the Broncos this summer.

The Texans, on the other hand, used their final trade resources this past weekend at the 2024 NFL Draft, selecting Ohio State tight end Cade Stover with the aforementioned fourth-round pick (No. 123). Here’s what Houston ended up with from the remaining selections:

As part of a transaction to drop two spots, the Eagles acquired the 2022 First Round Pick (No. 13 overall). The pick went to the Eagles for DT Jordan Davis and the Houston Rockets for G Kenyon Green.
The Texans used their 2022 Fourth Round Pick (No. 107 overall) to choose RB Dameon Pierce
2023 First Round Pick (at position No. 12 overall): Traded to the Cardinals in order to advance to the third overall pick spot. Houston selected DE Will Anderson with Arizona’s selection. After being transferred once more to Detroit, the original pick selected by the Browns was acquired by Jahmyr Gibbs.

2023 Third Round Pick (No. 73 overall): The Texans traded for WR Tank Dell with the Rams in exchange for this pick, which they used to select him with the 69th overall pick. The Giants selected wide receiver Julian Hyatt after the Rams traded them the Browns’ pick.
2024 First Round Pick (number 23 overall): Housto chose to advance to the second round by trading this pick to the Vikings. After that, Minnesota traded the pick to the Jaguars, who chose wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. The Texans selected LB Jamal Hill with a sixth-round pick they acquired from Minnesota, and CB Kamari Lassiter at pick No. 42 in the second round.

Fourth round 2024 (No. 123): Houston originally gave the Eagles this pick, but it was later returned to them by trade, and they selected TE Cade Stover with it.
The trade of Watson has had a significant effect on the Texans roster. They were in a completely different situation two years ago than they are now, having just finished a season in which they easily defeated the Browns in the wild card round of the playoffs.

The team’s rapid recovery has been led by players like Anderson, Dell, and even Pierce. In that span of time, they also acquired C.J. Stroud, a franchise quarterback.

The Browns still have time to get their money’s worth from their Watson investment. The 28-year-old quarterback has only appeared in 12 games overall in the first two seasons of his new contract with the organization up to this point. His 11-game suspension wrecked the 2022 season, and two separate shoulder injuries this past season caused Watson to miss over 10 games.

Despite having a winning record in 2023—he went 5-1 as a starter—Watson’s injuries prevented him from ever finding a rhythm. The Browns are hoping the Clemson product can return to his form as a top-10 quarterback next season and prove the move was worthwhile in the long run. He is recovering from surgery this offseason to fix his throwing shoulder.
